Removable tire-type air tubes intended for drilling rigs’ compression-type clutches

Removable tire-type air tubes represent elastic friction elements which couple a driving and a driven member of the clutch and transmit torque to an actuator.

The climatic versions are U (moderate climate) and T (tropical climate); and the location category is 1 under GOST 15150.

The applicability of the tubes in tire-type air clutches of new engine plants, except for drilling rigs, shall be endorsed by the tube manufacturer before the approval of plant designs.

The tire-type air tubes may be exported as components for clutches.

  1. Technical requirements

1.1 The tire-type air tubes shall comply with the requirements hereof and the documentation kit of Uralshina LLC developed, with regard to mounting dimensions, in accordance with the documentation kits of Uralmash JSC.

1.2 The tubes shall be manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the process documentation approved as per the established procedure.

1.3 Basic parameters, characteristics, and design

1.3.1 The tubes shall represent a closed ring chamber with an oval cross-section and comprise the following parts:

— an internal hollow rubber chamber,

— a structure made of plies of rubberized cord fabric,

— two rubber protectors,

— one or two steel air valves located on the tube’s external surface, and

— steel plates each having two threaded holes and solidly rubberized in the tube’s external protector.

1.3.2 The tubes MP 300×100, MP 500×125, MP 700×200, and MP 1070×200 shall be packaged with removable friction pads of asbestos composition fixed with steel rolls on the internal protector and a thermal-insulating gasket placed between the internal protector and the friction pads.

1.3.3 As agreed upon with the customer, the tubes may be supplied without components: friction pads, rollers, straps, and a thermal-insulating gasket.

1.3.4 The tubes’ basic dimensions, design characteristics, and weights are given in Table 1.

1. The rated torque was measured for the maximum clutch rotation, the minimum operating pressure, the friction coefficient of 0.37, and the safety factor against slipping of 1.5.

2. These characteristics shall not be applicable to the tubes supplied without components.

 

1.3.6. The tubes shall be air-tight.

1.3.7. The tubes shall have a service life of at least:

8,500 h for MP 300х100;

1,000 h for MP 500х125; and

900 h for MP 700×200, MP 1070×200.

1.3.8 The tubes’ surfaces shall be protected from the exposure of sunlight and rubber-corroding substances (organic solvents, mineral oils, acids, fuels, and lubricants).

1.4 Packaging

1.4.1 The tubes’ air valves shall be wrapped in rubberized fabric in order to prevent foreign objects from entering the tube.

1.4.2 The tubes shall be transported packed (paper, wooden box) or unpacked as agreed upon with the customer. The cost of packaging shall be determined separately.

  1. Safety requirements

2.1 The tubes shall meet the requirements of the present specifications.

2.2 The tubes shall be operated in accordance with the operation instructions of drilling rigs.

2.3 The surfaces of the tubes and the friction pads shall be protected from mechanical damages.

2.4 Prevent any organic solvents, mineral oils, lubricants, fuels, or acids from contacting the surface or entering the internal cavity of the tube, as well as contacting the friction pads’ friction surfaces.

  1. Acceptance rules

3.1 During the acceptance and delivery tests, the tubes shall undergo:

— visual examination and inspection during the air-valve vulcanization and the plate vulcanization – each tube;

— testing for tightness – each tube;

— measurement of basic dimensions and weighing;

— check of physical and mechanical performance;

— measurement of peeling strength of the metal-rubber bond; and

— measurement of rubber hardness.

3.2   The tubes accepted by the technical inspection shall be marked. The mark shall be made on the tube’s external surface using a fast dye clearly discernible on the surface of the tube.

  1. Transportation and storage

4.1 The tubes shall be transported under the storage conditions 3 of GOST 15150 at a temperature of at least minus 50°C by any transport mode in accordance with the cargo transportation rules effective for this mode of transport.

4.2 The tubes shall be stored indoors under the storage conditions 3 of GOST 15150 at a temperature of minus 50 to plus 35°С.

During the storage, the tubes shall be at a distance of at least 1 m from heat-producing devices and be protected from the exposure of sunlight and rubber- and metal-corroding substances (organic solvents, mineral oils, lubricants, fuels, and acids).

During the storage, a short-term increase of temperature up to plus 50°С due to climatic conditions shall be permissible.

4.3 The unpacked tubes shall be stored horizontally with their air valves plugged. In the case of stacking, piles shall include five pieces at most.

  1. Operation guidelines

5.1 During the procedure of mounting the tubes in clutches, their surfaces and the surfaces of their friction pads shall be protected from mechanical damages.

5.2. During the operation, the following measures must be taken:

— continuously monitor the operating air pressure inside the tubes;

— in order to avoid slippings, maintain an operating air pressure inside the tubes of at least 0.588 MPa. (6 kgf/cm2); and

— visually examine tubes and friction pads at least once a month.

5.3 A mounting radial clearance between the friction pads and the friction drum of at least 1.5 mm must be provided.

5.4 During the operation, no kinds of organic solvents, mineral oils, lubricants, fuels, or acids shall contact the tube’s surface or the friction pads’ friction surfaces.

  1. Manufacturer’s warranty

6.1 The manufacturer guarantees conformance of the tire-type air tubes with the requirements hereof, provided the consumer complies with the operation, transportation, and storage conditions as established by the present specifications.

6.2 The tubes’ guaranteed shelf life is two years from the manufacturing date.

The guaranteed operation life is one year from the commissioning date within the guaranteed shelf life.

The guaranteed running time is:

— 2,000 h for the tubes MP 300×100; and

— 500 h for the tubes MP 500×125, MP 700×200, and MP 1070×200.

6.3 The guaranteed operation life of the exported tubes is one year from date of crossing the State Border.
